Paper Airplanes

Paper Airplanes is a non-profit that uses video conferencing to provide free one-on-one tutoring to individuals affected by conflict. We have a large demand for English instruction and thus are trying to find more volunteer tutors.

The time commitment is 2 hours per week. 1.5 hours of meeting with a student and 30 minutes of preparation reviewing the Paper Airplanes curriculum prior to lessons. There is also a training that tutors must complete prior to being matched with a student that takes 3-4 hours.

Tutors and students are matched based on gender, age, English proficiency, Arabic proficiency, and academic interests. Paper Airplanes' students are young adults, primarily in the age range of 18-35, who have been affected by conflict in the Middle East and North Africa. The majority of students are native Arabic speakers who wish to improve their English in order to pursue further education and employment opportunities.
