SBS 219: High-Risk Behaviors, Epidemiology and Prevention Strategies

Semester: Spring

This course examines behaviors that place an individual at higher risk of injuries and mortality, including substance use, violence and antisocial behavior, suicide and risky sexual behaviors. With a focus on adolescent risk behavior, the course covers developmental, social and environmental factors that drive these behaviors, to inform the design, implementation, and evaluation of theory-guided, evidence-based preventive interventions. Students are guided in the development of a prevention intervention for a chosen adolescent problem behavior.
